Split is famous worldwide for its diverse cultural life, rich folk and sports traditions which are fertile ground for all kinds of annual events that are organized all the year round.

Croatia Boat Show - Split

The most spectacular Split festival is the Split Summer Festival that has been gathering thousands of spectators since 1954 for a month's series of drama, opera, ballet, music, dance and street theatre performances. Time your holidays in Split to the middle of July not to miss the opening ceremony and the following rich program of daily events that take place in Diocletian's Palace, the Croatian National Theatre, city streets and squares, etc. Diocletian's Nights are a special treat to the visitors who can have a culinary feast in the palace basement halls wearing Roman clothes. The early August Jazz Festival is included in the Summer Festival program.

The other annual music events for your Split holidays are the Split Pop Music Festival that opens late in June and the new Split Guitar Festival offering concerts by local and international guitarists during the last week of April.

The mid-September International Festival of New Film is an excellent chance for those who would like to combine their Split holidays with the screenings of alternative and experimental projects in video, film and new media. Split Music Festival - Croatia

Holidays in Split will be still more memorable if you take part in popular folk feasts and related festivities. The greatest May attractions are St Domnius's Day that falls on May 7 and Sudamja, the accompanying Split festival that involves entertainment activities on the preceding and following days.
