Weather in Croatia in April
The weather conditions in April can vary significantly in different parts of the country. In the first half of the month on Istrian peninsula or inland of Croatia can differ greatly from the weather in Central Dalmatia and South Dalmatia. It often snows in the continental regions, particularly on the border with Austria. However, by the time you approach the coastal regions of Croatia the temperature can dramatically switch from cold to rather warm, with temperature changing from 15°C and 25°C. Further to the south the weather is likely to be very nice. Visitors can even sunbathe and swim for about an hour at midday along the coast in late April. Water temperature fluctuates between 14°C and 16°C. The chances are that you’ll catch more sunshine in the southern Adriatic, with Hvar Island being the place which enjoys most sunshine. The weather is also marked by more rain and windy days.
It is a great time for those travelers who would be happy to spend their holidays hiking, rock climbing or cycling. Kayakers and rafters are recommended to visit Karlovac. April is ideal time for visiting most of Croatia's national parks, in particular Plitvice Lakes, swollen with melting snow and relatively uncrowded.
Those people who are hungry for cultural activities will definitely love Zagreb, bustling with life in April. Travelers interested in sport adventure can go to the Murter Island and see or compete in the sailing regatta "Murter-Kornati Cup", initiated more than 20 years ago.
While hotels in Hvar, Pula, Dubrovnik, as well as in other big cities can be filled to capacity, hotels of most islands, especially in the north, are still closed. It can also be hard to find private accommodation in many places. However, your efforts to find a place to stay are sure to be compensated for by rock-bottom prices.
